Welcome to AntLingo ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use the AntLingo mobile application (the "App") available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

By using AntLingo, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

In order to provide you with a highly effective language learning experience, we request access to certain data and device features. We only collect what is strictly necessary to operate the App.

A. Account Information

To create and manage your AntLingo profile, we collect basic account information, including your email address and password.

• Purpose: To authenticate your account, securely sync your learning progress, and provide account recovery options.
• Service Provider: We use Supabase as our backend infrastructure and authentication provider. Your credentials and account data are securely transmitted and stored on Supabase servers in compliance with industry-standard security protocols.

B. Camera and Photos (OCR Feature)

AntLingo features an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and object identification tool to help you learn English words based on real-world objects.

• Permissions Requested: We will explicitly request permission to access your device's Camera and Photo Library.
• Processing: Images captured or selected are securely transmitted to the Google Cloud Vision API for processing and analysis.
• Data Retention & Privacy: We strictly respect your privacy. Images processed through this feature are used solely in real-time to return vocabulary translations to you. Images are not permanently stored on our servers, nor are they ever shared with advertisers or third-party data brokers.

C. Local File Access and Storage

AntLingo allows you to import your own reading materials and save web pages for offline language learning.

• Permissions Requested: We will request permission to read and write files to your device's local storage.
• Usage: This access is strictly limited to parsing documents you explicitly select (such as PDF, Markdown (.md), and Plain Text (.txt) files), and saving clipped web pages to your device for future study. We do not scan your file system or access any files other than those you actively choose to interact with or save.

2. Third-Party Services

We rely on trusted third-party services to provide core functionality. These services are bound by their own strict privacy policies and terms of service:

• Supabase: For account management, authentication, and database services.
• Google Cloud Vision API: For processing images to facilitate our OCR and object identification features.

3. Analytics and Advertising (No Ad Tracking)

We believe your learning experience should be distraction-free and private.

• No Third-Party Advertising: AntLingo does not display third-party advertisements.
• No Ad Tracking: We do not integrate with third-party advertising networks, nor do we track your behavior across other apps and websites to serve personalized ads. Your data is never sold to marketing agencies or data brokers.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account information (such as your email address and learning progress) only for as long as your account is active. As stated, camera images and scanned files are processed transiently and are not retained on our servers.

Your Right to Deletion: You have the right to request the complete deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. To request data deletion, please contact us at support@antlingo.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." We will process your request within the timeframe required by applicable laws (typically within 30 days) and permanently remove your account data from our active Supabase database.

5. Security of Your Data

We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

AntLingo does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your region). If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child without verifiable parental consent, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our servers.

7. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored in countries outside your place of residence where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other facilities as necessary to provide the Service.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or to comply with App Store and Google Play guidelines. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification.
